One Way to Start Being More Consistent in Your Fitness

Why do you do this to yourself?

You get fixated on this thought of going all in and drastically changing your lifestyle overnight.

You know you should start working out, eating better, cooking food, and spending less money on shit that you’ll regret after...so you decide to switch all of this tomorrow.

“I’m going to sleep at 8pm, wake up at 5am and workout 5 days per week, drink a gallon of water, and cut out alcohol for 30 days.”

And what happens?

It never works because you only stick to it for a few weeks—and if you actually do ride it out for longer than a month—it’s only a matter of time before you resent everything you just did and go right back to what you were doing before.

You know it doesn’t make sense to try to aggressively change overnight but it feels right when you sprint at your goals.

It feels like you’re committed and there’s a sense of success.

But psychology and even our on experiences tell us that it actually never works.

a messed up man

You rather create a goal of working out 5 times per week and dream of doing it than actually just working out 1 time per week for a year.

You know doing something is better than nothing but your emotions get so tied up in wanting it all to happen so fast.

But the truth is it won’t happen fast...because what got you to where you are now didn’t happen fast.

What makes change stick is small incremental habits (that might even seem insignificant) done overtime.

Focus on 1-2 small changes that compound overtime.

  • Going to sleep 15 mins earlier

  • Adding 20 extra grams of protein per day

  • Adding one extra workout per week

  • Drinking an extra glass of water per day

  • Reducing your alcohol by two drinks per week

Actually doing the thing is more important than your fantasy of what you should be doing.

The “all or nothing mentality” is robbing you of your happiness, success, and consistency.

Commit to a little and do it for a long time!

Then watch how MASSIVE that becomes.
